Good morning,
I have X-SABRE Pro MQA, X-SPDIF 2 and H element in my system. The X-SABRE Pro MQA has firmware version 2.4. From what I can see there is a newer version. The question is what makes it better, is it worth it? It's a bit of work, so the question is is it worth it? Element H works in PC Windows10. Can I upgrade it to Windows 11? Will my kit work? Will there be any difference? Regards and thanks in advance for your replies.
Sebastian
Windows 11 is cmpatible with element H, the same as Windows 10, no need to install drivers. Simply install the card to the PCIe slot, boot the computer.
Thank you.

Thank you very much for the information. I will update as recommended.

Hi,
I updated the MCU software according to the first part of the article: https://www.matrix-digi.com/news/88
but I do not know why to version 3003 since in the article
there is version 3004
Unfortunately, with Part 2: XMOS v3.30 firmware update I have a problem. When I run: "Matrix_AudioDfu.exe" I have note: "The driver DLL reuired to access the device is missing".
I am following the directions:
"Turn on X-SABRE PRO (MQA) and connect it to PC with an USB cable, run "Matrix_AudioDfu.exe"
Latest file downloaded.
I am running on a laptop with Windows 10 PRO, version 21H2.

Hi,
Part 2: XMOS v3.30 firmware update done - stupid thing - I was doing an update through a laptop that didn't have the driver installed.
Unfortunately, now I have a serious problem with the DSD format. Starting a song in DSD format is accompanied by a powerful crack, each time you move the track or turn on the next one, the device automatically returns to the PCM signal and switches to DSD, accompanied by a crack. Can't listen to music I thought maybe it was X-SPDIF 2's fault, so I skipped that item, but connecting the USU-USB X-sabre - H item didn't change anything.
A tragedy - a great request for help.
Just in case, I did the full firmware update procedure again: MCU and XMOS firmware update for X-SABRE Pro MQA on a computer with the latest driver: MatrixAudio_v5.50.0_2022-09-08_setup, through which I play music files.
It was done without any problems, but unfortunately it didn't help, the powerful crack for DSD files remained.
It occurs when the device changes the signal from PCM to DSD: the display shows "Connecting" for a moment and then there is a crack.
This is not the fault of my connections or PC because there is no crackle for the PCM signal. If the source is a CD connected via Saber, there is no problem either. The problem appeared after XMOS v3.30 firmware update.
In addition, a note, maybe important: the crackle is of the same power regardless of what gain is set.
Hi Sebastian,
I guess you are using Foobar2000 as a player for DSD? Please check this document for the fonfigurations. https://www.matrix-digi.com/pdf/DSD_Conf...202209.pdf
Please note, the volume of foobar should be set to maximum.

Hi,
I use JPLAY FEMTO to play both PCM and DSD music (http://jplay.eu/manual/), and mConnect as remove App.
I add information from the software manual and my settings as attachments.
I also tried different settings. In the case of Kernel streaming, nothing has any effect. For DSD, the crackle is still there. For ASIO, I was able to find settings where the crackle is not audible, unfortunately the sound is clearly worse.
It seems that the latest Matrix Saber MQA firmware is not working properly with kernel streaming for DSD files
It's a pity that the manufacturer didn't take a closer look at this streaming mode, especially since in the opinion of many kernel streaming is the best choice.
The original Matrix Saber MQA firmware didn't have these problems (cracks when starting DSD files), so in retrospect it wasn't worth flashing.
Now I have a problem because I have two bad choices: use a worse ASIO or forget the DSD format
Please share the original firmware: 2.4 MCU and v3.0 XMOS so I can go back to the software where this problem wasn't there
Hi Sebastian,
Can you test and verify with a PC temporarily?
Please use foobar2000 as the music player on a Windows computer, install Matrix Audio driver, and configure the SuperCD plugin and ASIO plugin to foobar.
As instructed in the documents https://www.matrix-digi.com/pdf/DSD_Conf...202209.pdf
I don't believe it's a bug of the firmware. Most of the customers of X-SABRE Pro MQA are using this version. I have never heard of any customer has this issue.
Please confirm.
