If the element X is connected to X-SPDIF 2, it is recommended to use the IIS-LVDS connection. Select type A for element X; select standard definition for X-SPDIF 2. Use regular HDMI cable as the IIS cable.

Hi Philippe,
The built-in USB audio interface of element X is good enough. If you add the X-SPDIF 2 to another DAC which USB input is weak, the gain of sound quality would be more obvious.
