I have a Matrix Element S and a similar problem.
When the Element S is connected using IIS HDMI out to a Topping D90 (first edition with Akm chip, not Mqa version) is getting data from Matrix because it shows the sampling rate. But no sound out.
Do I have to try to disconnect the 16th pin as suggested to Tore_2388 for his X-SPDIF3?
