X-Sabre Pro (MQA) connection with Auralic Aries G2.1
#1
Sad
Hey,

I'm trying to connect X-Sabre Pro (MQA) with Auralic Aries G2.1 as source.

Auralic doesn't have IIS, so i tried USB.
That did not work. X-Sabre was not recognized by Auralic.

Should USB connection be possible between the two?
What's the next best option if both IIS & USB are out of the question?

Sound quality is utmost priority.

Thanks.

Hi Juhu,
Whether or not the Auralic can connect to the Matrix via USB connection, it depends on the former. Because in this setup, Auralic is the host device, and Matrix is a slave decive.
As I know, the earlier product from Auralic, Aries Mini works with Matrix DACs through USB connection properly. But you need to select output device of Aries Mini. See attached.

Thank you for your guidance.

I can confirm USB connection is indeed working with Aries G2.

One additional question regarding the settings on Matrix X-SABRE Pro MQA.

Specifically "Dither" and "Dac mode" settings.

Are these aimed to fix the incoming signal if it's less-than-perfect ?
Witch settings should i use for best sound quality (assuming no problem with signal) ?

Hi Juhu,
If the incoming signal is not good enough, which lead the X-SABRE Pro MQA cannot lock the signal sampling rate reliably, you can set the DPLL Bandwidth to High. (Which you can find in the settings menu of X-SABRE Pro MQA) It would help.
The DAC Mode means the DAC output a maximum volume and the volume is cannot be controled. This requires your speakers and amplifiers have volume control.
The option Dither is recommended to set to ON.
