Headphone advice Element X

Hi,

First : the Matrix Element X is the best dac I have ever heard. 
My brother was visiting me last week and when he left I had to pick up his jaw from the floor. 

I'm considering buying a new headphones to match my Matrix Element X but I can't decide...

The manual of the element X reads :

"It is advisable to connect with high-impedance headphone for the best sound effect.
If it is connected to a low-impedance and high sensitivity headphone, in order to decrease the noise,
it is advisable to set the gain of headphone AMP at 'LOW' and consider if an impedance cable is needed."

My questions :
- Is 55 ohm high impedance according to your standards ? (the focal clear mg f.i. is 55)
- Can you name some headphone brands and models that match with the element x?

Hi friend,
A 55 ohms headphone is not a very low impedance headphone, I think it should work with the element X without problems.
We have used the Focal Clear (non-Mg) with the element X, it sounds perfect.

I’m using Focal Elegia (35ohms), Audeze LCD 3 (110ohms) and Hifiman HD400se (25ohms). All work perfectly with the Element X. I would suggest using the high gain settings of the headphone amplifier, though, for low impedance headphones
