How to troubleshoot an element H USB card - LI HUI - 02-04-2024

When you encounter a problem while using the element H, before deciding to send the device to your dealer for services, please follow the below steps to troubleshoot at your side:
  1. Shut down the computer, remove the element H from the PCIe slot on the computer motherboard. Check whether there is dirt or oxidation on the pins of the element H and the PCIe slot. If so, clean the dirt and wipe off the oxidation.
  2. If there are more available PCIe slots on your computer motherboard, install the element H in another PCIe slot. After installation, connect the SATA 15-pin power cable to element H and switch the power switch on element H's panel to internal power (Position Int).
  3. After the element H is reinstalled, power on the computer. Don’t connect any USB device to the element H temporarily. Open Windows Device Manager first, check the devices under Universal Serial Bus controllers, the element H should be displayed as “Texas Instruments USB 3.0 xHCI Host Controller”.

  4. If the test result of previous step is OK, then test read and write speed with two USB drives in USB 2.0 and 3.0 standard respectively on this USB port. If the element H is good, both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 storage devices can be recognized and write content normally. The reference writing speed of USB 2.0 storage devices is approximately 30MB/s, and for a USB 3.0 storage devices is approximately 120MB/s.
If the computer only recognizes USB 2.0 device, or only recognizes USB 3.0 devices, or both 2.0 and 3.0 USB devices are couldn’t be recognized, it is judged to be faulty.
⚠️ Note:
  1. During the troubleshooting process above, when installing and removing element H to your computer, connecting and disconnecting the SATA power supply, and changing the power supply switch, please shut down the computer first.
  2. During the troubleshooting process, please do not set the power supply mode of element H to external power supply or turn off the power supply. After the investigation is completed, then set to your preferred power supply method for daily use.
  3. Microsoft Windows 8 and later version have integrated driver software for element H. When you are using the element H on computers with these newer operating systems, no need to install driver manually. When the computer is running Windows 7 or older operating systems, you need to install driver for the element H manually.
