When X-SABRE Pro/ X-SABRE Pro (MQA)/ X-SABRE 3 work with X-SPDIF 2/X-SPDIF3, the DAC can be set to synchronous mode. In this mode, the clock signal is provided by X-SPDIF 2/X-SPDIF3. The clock sources are Accusilicon femtosecond clocks in X-SPDIF 2/X-SPDIF3.
ESS Technology recommends users to set the DAC to asynchronous mode. You'll get better audio specs in this mode.
