What capacity of hard drives could be supported by Matrix Audio devices? - Wei Cao - 02-22-2023

As long as the USB storage device can be recognized by your Matrix Audio devices through the USB port (the USB Host ports of element 1st gen models, and the USB Type C port of element 2nd gen models and mini-i 4 series.), and the power supply ability of the USB port matches the requirements of the storage device, theoretically, the capacity of storage device will not be limited by the Matrix Audio devices.

However, to ensure better experiences, we suggest users to choose a proper usage according to the quantity of music files and using habits.

  1. When the total amount of music files is less than 2TB, it is recommended to connect a SSD drive, flash drive or HDD via the USB port as storage device.
  2. When the total amount of music files is more than 2TB but less than 6TB, it is recommended to use NAS as storage and add it as a network drive through SMB file sharing protocol.
  3. When the total amount of music files is larger than 6TB, it is recommended to setup a UPnP media server.
Note: The "amount of music files" mentioned above refers to the actual size of the music files, not the total capacity of the drive.
