Dear Dub, 
Please note, the streaming quality of TIDAL should be set in MA Remote app. Not in TIDAL app. In TIDAL account settings page in MA app, set the streaming quality higher please.

Back to normal!

But there is still a issue with Tidal connect and audio volume. If i change the volume on the element i2 it bounces back to the volume set in tidal or maybe to the next even tenth or fifth.

A few quick turns on the volume knob the volume starts to bounce +/- 10 units and the app completely hangs ands blocks the phone.

Latest firmware on unit. Latest app version. Iphone 13 mini.

Introduced in a firmware update (3-4-5 latest something)

Can you describe the behavour of the device when you play from Spotify and TIDAL Connect?

vTuner has changed some APIs, it may not work properly on old apps, update your MA Remote app, the issue has been fixed.

Another connection or port is worth trying. A few days ago I was seeing 30-50% packet loss on one port of my switch and 1% packet loss on another. Same cable. Time to replace that 15 year old switch, I guess.

Dear Mike - you nailed it.  

Apologies to Matrix - the issue appears to be the switch (and not the new one i thought it was connected to, but an old one).  I moved the Matrix to two different switches and it worked fine.  I delayed in reporting because i have not yet replaced the what i think is the bad switch, so don't have a definitive fix. I should be able to report an update in 48hrs or so.

 Issue solved with bad ethernet connection - it was a bad switch.

hi matrix support,
i recently purchased the element x2 pure (serial: VC13SE23176). today i upgraded the firmware to the latest version (V1.1.1 Build005) and am running the latest version of the MA remote app (3.3.2) on an iphone 14 pro. since upgrading the firmware on the element, tidal connect isn't working. 

i'm going into the tidal app on my desktop computer, choosing a song, and selecting "element x2 pure..." in the output device list. on the screen of the element, it shows the song for about one second then it disappears. my element is connected to internet via an ethernet cable and the connection is stable.

the element seem to fail to play any song via tidal connect. i then tried streaming using spotify connect and no problems at all. restarting the element device makes no difference. this happens if i try to use tidal connect from either my desktop or my phone.

i have sent my logs in to matrix via the element device. please help me! i much prefer tidal connect than spotify and am sad that tidal no longer works Sad

edit 1: i took a closer look at what the screen on the element flashes for just 1 second when i change tracks on tidal: it says "0 bit" instead of 16bit or 24bit and then it disappears right away. it does this with every song on tidal.
edit 2: streaming tidal directly from the matrix app also doesn't work anymore. seems there is a bug around decoding/playing tidal tracks (see below)
edit 3: qobuz streaming also not working from the matrix app. only spotify connect works (see below)

Did you tested play from a USB drive? Did it work? Or play RadioParadise or Internet radio from vTuner?

hi wei,

yesterday i actually unplugged the element device and after i replugged it and tidal finally started working again. before, i was just turning the element on/off using the power button. it seems the device needed a hard reset.

but again, a few hours later, tidal streaming stopped working. i noticed that it seems to stop working when i use tidal connect on one device (desktop mac) and start tidal connect on a second device (iphone).

it seems that if you switch a few times between devices, the element can get into a state where it just stops streaming properly. it gets into some sort of hung state that requires a hard reboot of the element. 

i'm not sure of precise repro steps. have you heard of this issue before?

I tested like you descriped, TIDAL app (v2.34.3.26) installed on a MacBook Air (M2, Ventura 13.4.1), stream songs to the element X2 Pure (v1.1.1 Build005), then use a iPhone 13 (iOS 16.6) with the same TIDAL account (TIDAL v2.88.0), change tracks, I switched many tracks from each device, the element X2 Pure did not show the same issue like yours. Please check if the app involved are all up to date.

By the way, are you still having the issue with Qobuz?

hi wei,
i double checked and all my apps are on the latest version. one thing i should have been more clear on is that i switch between a couple other streaming methods before it hangs.

i will also sometimes switch to streaming via spotify connect. it seems that a combination of switching between tidal connect on my mac/phone and between spotify connect on my mac/phone will cause a hang that requires a hard reboot of the element.

perhaps try more switches between streaming options to see if you can reproduce it?
