Hi, can the Matrix Element i2 be used as a preamplifier? I'd like to use the rear xlr output and connect it directly to a power amp but I don't know if this output has a volume control

Hi, Enrico.
In the Element i2 Lineout mode, there are 2 options, "Adj" and "FIXED", so yes, set i2 Lineout on "ADJ" mode in "Ma Remote APP" and it will work on pre-amp mode(volume control).

Diablo is correct.
The element i2 can work in fixed output mode or adjustable mode. Use the MA Remote App, enter the device configurations, set the Lineout Mode to 0dB ADJ, then you can connect the element i2 to a amplifier and adjust output volume by element i2.

Sorry guys newbie here. When the analog output is set to fixed, is it the same as setting it to Adj, but turning the volume up to 100? Wouldn't this damage the I2, setting it to max constantly? I'm only brave enough to go up to 80% on any electrical equipments. Hope guys from MA can clarify this. Thank you.

Yes, it's same, it will not damage your device.
The volume be set to ADJ 100% and set output mode to FIXED is same.
